Keshad Johnson’s path to the NBA wasn’t a traditional one. He wasn’t a highly touted high school recruit and received limited scholarship offers.

  1. College Career: Johnson played four seasons at San Diego State before transferring to Arizona for his bonus senior year. His versatility as a 6’7″ swingman caught the attention of NBA scouts.
  2. Impressive Stats: In the 2023/24 season, Johnson averaged 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. His shooting line of .530/.387/.710 showcased his skills.

What Is a Two-Way Contract?

The Miami Heat recognized his potential and offered him a two-way deal, allowing him to split time between the NBA team and their G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. A two-way contract allows a player to move between the NBA and the G League during the season. Players on two-way deals spend most of their time with the G League team but can be called up to the NBA for a maximum of 45 days. It’s an excellent opportunity for young talents like Johnson to gain experience and prove themselves at the highest level.
