Brad Pitt, the acclaimed actor known for his diverse roles, is taking on a thrilling challenge in his upcoming untitled movie. According to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Pitt underwent intensive training for four or five months to master the art of driving a Formula One (F1) car. The film centers around an aging F1 driver who comes out of retirement to mentor and team up with a rising star.

“He trained for four or five months. He’s an amazing driver,” Bruckheimer tells PEOPLE of Pitt, 60, at the El Capitan Theater. “In fact, some of the F1 drivers said he’s a natural athlete. He really is. He’s amazing in that car.”

Pitt’s commitment to authenticity shines through as he immersed himself in the world of high-speed racing. His training involved rigorous physical conditioning, mental preparation, and hands-on experience behind the wheel. Bruckheimer revealed that some of the actual F1 drivers were impressed by Brad Pitt’s natural athleticism. The actor’s dedication paid off, as he seamlessly transitioned into the role of a veteran driver.

In the movie, Pitt portrays a racer from the 1990s who suffered a devastating crash, disappeared from the scene, and now races in other disciplines. His friend, played by Javier Bardem, owns a struggling F1 team that has never scored a point. Enter the young phenom, portrayed by Damson Idris, and Pitt’s character becomes their last hope—a Hail Mary attempt to turn their fortunes around.

Brad Pitt’s enthusiasm for the project was evident during filming. He was spotted at the Silverstone race track in Northamptonshire, U.K., sporting a racing suit and mingling with real-life F1 drivers. The adrenaline rush of speed, the unseen G-forces, and the thrill of the track all contribute to the film’s excitement. Pitt summed it up best: “We’re just having such a laugh, time of my life.”
