Phoenix to Host NBA All-Star 2027: A Slam Dunk Celebration

On March 8, 2024, the National Basketball Association (NBA) shared great news with fans in Phoenix, Arizona, via their official Twitter account, @NBAPR. Phoenix has been chosen as the host city for the 2027 NBA All-Star Game, bringing the game back to the Valley of the Sun.

@NBAPR Tweeted, ” The @NBA announced today that Phoenix has been selected to host NBA All-Star 2027. The 76th NBA All-Star Game will take place at Footprint Center, home of the Phoenix @Suns, on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2027. NBA All-Star 2027 will mark the city’s fourth NBA All-Star, having hosted the event in 1975, 1995 and 2009.”

Adam Silver, the NBA Commissioner, announced the announcement during a press conference at the Footprint Center. Suns Chairman Mat Ishbia and Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs attended the announcement, which included a special recorded message from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. Their united joy rang around the arena, promising an amazing celebration of the game.

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs shared the sentiment, saying, “We are excited to welcome the NBA and basketball fans to the great state of Arizona for NBA All-Star 2027.” Arizona is a top destination for sports and entertainment, and we are excited to show fans everything our state has to offer.”

The NBA All-Star festivities will begin on Friday, February 19, with the NBA Rising Stars game, a showcase for elite rookies and second-year players. On February 20, State Farm All-Star Saturday Night will include the Kia Skills Challenge, the STARRY 3-Point Challenge, and the AT&T Slam Dunk contest. Finally, the NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, February 21.

Phoenix will host a variety of events for fans of all ages, including NBA All-Star Practice sponsored by AT&T, the Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, and an NBA All-Star fan festival.
