Max Verstappen, the Red Bull Racing prodigy, recently opened up about a critical aspect of Formula 1 racing: kerb riding. In this article, we delve into Verstappen’s candid remarks and explore the delicate balance between performance and limitations faced by drivers.

Kerbs are raised sections of the track, often found at the edges of corners. While they can provide additional grip and help drivers maintain speed, they also pose risks. Verstappen acknowledges that kerb riding is a weakness for his team and emphasizes the ongoing efforts to address it.

“We know that this [kerb riding] is a weakness and I also know that we are flat out working on it to try and fix it,” said Verstappen. I really feel like it’s quite a big performance limitation for us at the moment.

“Of course, naturally, I’m also looking forward to some tracks where we don’t really need to take too many kerbs or too many bumps.

Helmut Marko, the advisor and head of driver development for Red Bull Racing, recently shed light on a unique challenge faced by the team during the Monaco Grand Prix. Max Verstappen’s comments about the car “jumping like a kangaroo” sparked curiosity among fans and experts alike. In this article, we explore the details behind this intriguing issue and its impact on Red Bull’s performance.

During practice sessions, Max Verstappen expressed frustration with the behavior of his RB20 car. He likened it to a kangaroo, emphasizing the unpredictable bouncing motion. Verstappen’s concern centered around the car’s stability and aerodynamic efficiency, both critical factors in Formula 1 racing.

Helmut Marko acknowledged the challenge posed by the car’s bouncing behavior. He stated, “If the car jumps like a kangaroo, you don’t know where it will jump. For us, the job is to minimize that while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency.” Red Bull’s engineers faced a delicate balancing act—ensuring a comfortable ride without compromising speed.
