The Undrafted Prospect

Jalen Bridges’ journey to the NBA wasn’t a traditional one. While he wasn’t a top-rated high school recruit, he blossomed at Baylor University. Bridges, who spent his first couple of seasons with West Virginia before transferring to Baylor in 2022, went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. However, his skills did not go unnoticed. The Suns recognized his potential and offered him a two-way deal, allowing him to split time between the NBA team and their G League affiliate.

During his final season at Baylor, Bridges showcased his abilities on the court. In 35 games, he averaged 12.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game. His impressive three-point shooting (41.2%) adds value to the Suns’ roster. ESPN’s Jonathan Givony notes that Bridges has solid potential as a 3-and-D role player, emphasizing his sturdy frame and defensive skills. The Suns, after relying heavily on their star backcourt, are seeking to add size and athleticism to their wing rotation. Bridges, a 6-foot-7 forward, fits this mold perfectly. His ability to defend multiple positions and contribute on the boards will add much-needed depth.
