In the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series DUDE Wipes 250 at Martinsville Speedway, Hailie Deegan faced a challenging race. Early on, she was involved in an incident with Brennan Poole on Lap 36. The collision wiped out her front bumper and twisted the bumper components of her No. 15 Ford Mustang. Despite the damage, Deegan demonstrated resilience.

After the race, Deegan came out of her car and she was so surprised to see her car damaged so badly that she looked amused as she drove that car and contributed some potions instead of retiring.

“Yeah, I had a lot of damage to the front end, to say the least. It definitely made it hard. Struggling with my turn. Getting free into the corner,” Deegan said. “The brakes, all of the duct work was ripped out of it. The brakes, I was locking up the fronts, I was chattering the rears. I adjusted my brake bias — literally, I could move it one notch, and next thing you know, locking up the fronts. Move it to the back just a tick, and the rear is locking up and wheel-hopping into the corner. So it was just trying to salvage what I could with what I had.”

What happened with Hailie Deegan?

As Hailie Deegan spun off the front bumper of Poole’s No. 44 car, she collided with Kyle Weatherman’s No. 91 Chevy, further damaging her car.

The front bumper was completely torn off, and other front-end components were twisted. The car bottomed out, and the brakes became touchy.

Deegan managed to get back onto the lead lap with a free pass received on Lap 170. Encouraged by her crew chief Joe Williams and spotter TJ Majors, she started turning competitive lap times climbed up the scoring pylon, and finished 18th in the end.
