Retired boxing superstar and fifteen times world champion Floyd Mayweather has finally announced his return to boxing next year to take on YouTuber Logan Paul in an exhibition fight. However, boxing fandom is not happy about it.
Having a spectacular 50-0, 27 KOs record in his career, Floyd Mayweather was last seen in action in an exhibition fight against Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018, although his last professional fight dates back to 2017 to the iconic Conor McGregor clash.
Back in November, it was developed that Mayweather will be returning to the ring on 28th February 2021 for an exhibition fight in Tokyo. However, “Money” boxing comeback has now been slated for a week earlier as he announced his Logan Paul fight on 20th February next year, a fight which was originally speculated to take place in late 2020.
Mayweather himself announced the PPV card on his official Instagram

Unfortunately, the fans are not very keen about the fight.
Twitter fumes as Floyd Mayweather announces Logan Paul fight in February
Logan Paul, the brother of Jake Paul who recently knocked out former NBA star Nate Robinson, made his pro boxing debut last year against fellow YouTuber KSI on 9th November at the STAPLES Center in LA, where he was defeated via SD.
While Mayweather already announced earlier that his boxing comeback will feature only exhibition fights, the announcement against Logan has angered boxing fans and pundits all around, who took to Twitter to lash out at the matchup.
As a Big Floyd Mayweather Fan I’m not about to partake is this. It’s a joke and a disrespect to the craft of people that really put they all into the sport of boxing this is all a money ploy I get it, get to bag but don’t tarnish ya legacy with this scrub pic.twitter.com/ohxlolp2ws

It’s actually a joke and a disgrace to the sport of boxing when people like Logan Paul can get a fight with mayweather based on nothing but social media stats. Actually a disgrace

It is a disgrace that Floyd Mayweather even CONSIDERED fighting a non-boxer🤦🏽♂️

Whoever is excited for this is a complete and utter idiot and is disrespectful to the sport of boxing and I can't wait to watch it. #MayweatherPaul https://t.co/EQvl0IHMWE

I’m genuinely curious, what qualifies Logan Paul to fight Mayweather. I understand the money aspect of it, but technically, is this a fair fight? Also, is this going to be one of those rough and rowdy type fights or dancing with the stars?

This Logan Paul v Mayweather fight is embarrassing for boxing. It’s becoming clear the main goal in the sport is money and not about proving anything to fighters or fans 🙄

I don't understand why Mayweather agrees to this. He is going to win, there's no doubt in my mind about that. But let's say he loses… his reputation is tarnished. No one will ever think of him as the greatest to ever do it if he loses to Logan Paul… https://t.co/YSXYe4KKn0

Boxing is becoming a joke now! Logan Paul vs Mayweather! McGregor to fight Jake Paul maybe? The only fight we want is Tyson vs Joshua which is two actual boxing heavyweights! #boxing #loganpaulvsfloydmayweather #JAKE #UFC
