Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was recently noticed engaging in a funny exchange with Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield regarding the latter’s team gear on Twitter.
Patrick Mahomes gets his name on Royals shirts

It all started with Kansas State University Baseball writer and analytical assistant Patrick Brennan, tweet, who shared a couple of photos of some latest Royals merchandise hitting the shelves at Scheels.
Interestingly, the jerseys of the MLB team bear the name of Patrick Mahomes, who reigns in the NFL and moreover, carries over his Chiefs squad number 15, which is the same number that Whit Merrifield wears at Royals.
Needless to say, the second baseman was quick to notice the ‘error’ and took to a retweet.
“Excuse me @SCHEELS, I’d like a word,” Merrifield wrote.

Soon after, Mahomes himself followed up with another tweet, telling Merrifield that the error needs to be corrected, albeit with some laughing emojis.
“We got to get that fixed man!” the Chiefs QB tweeted.

Notably, the issue was indeed fixed, as the official Twitter handle of Scheels themselves confirmed that they have both Kansas City no 15s in their stock.
“We got you Whit! We’re fans of both number 15s in Kansas City,” commented Scheels, along with a photo of both the jerseys of Merrifield as well as Mahomes.

Be that as it may, seeing the name of Mahomes on a Royals shirt is nothing out of the ordinary. The 25-year-old quarterback, who became the Super Bowl MVP last year, is a revered identity in Kansas and has been a driving force behind Chiefs’ Super Bowl triumph.
Mahomes has been enjoying a stellar 2020 season and has clocked 3,035 passing yards as well as 27 touchdown passes. In Chiefs’ 35-31 win over Raiders on Sunday, the 25-year-old went 34-for-45 with 348 passing yards as well as two touchdown passes.
