Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard Sterling Brown has reportedly reached to a settlement of $750,000 with the Milwaukee city attorney after the player had formerly accused the city’s police department of civil rights violation, taser abuse as well as racial profiling.
The incident took place back in January 2018. After illegal parking in the handicapped spot, Sterling Brown was approached by a police officer, who called up for backup and the group of cops took him down to the ground and one cop even tased the player. One of the cops, who later joked about the incident on Facebook, was fired later in September that year.

Milwaukee city attorney acknowledges settlement after Sterling Brown’s allegations towards the police department
Two years after the incident, Brown and the city of Milwaukee have finally reached a settlement of $750,000 after the Bucks stalwart charged the members of the police department of racial profiling and physical abuse, as per reported by The Athletic. The city has also admitted the violation of Brown’s constitutional rights and will enact necessary rectifications to the police department.
“Because of the unpredictability of a trial, and the City’s risk for exposure to compensatory and punitive damages, as well as additional attorney fees and costs, we recommend that this matter be settled for that amount,” a letter from Milwaukee city attorney Tearman Spencer and assistant city attorney Robin Pederson to the city’s Common Council read.

Sterling Brown is one of many NBA stars who have been vocal about systematic racism and police brutality. “I want cops to show respect and to be held accountable when they step out of line, especially in the neighborhoods they are supposed to serve and protect every day,” the 25-year-old wrote back in July.
“If they kill a man, I want them to receive the same punishment that another guy on the street would.”
A 2017 draft pick, Brown made 52 appearances for Bucks last season, averaging 5.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 14.7 minutes.
