Juan Soto’s first home run while wearing a Mets uniform is disgusting

Juan Soto gave his fans exactly what they wanted Friday in his second game in a New York Mets uniform.

The Mets held a 2-0 lead over the Houston Astros in the top of the 3rd inning at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas. Soto came up to the plate with the bases empty and two outs against Astros starter Hunter Brown.

After striking out in his first at-bat, Soto had no plans of going down quietly in his second crack at Brown. The hard-throwing righty threw a 1-2 cutter that caught way too much of the plate. Soto took full advantage, sending the pitch off the second-deck barrier in right field.

The blast was also Soto’s first RBI and run scored as a Met.

It was precisely because of his propensity to hit homers like that one that the Mets offered Soto a record-breaking contract in the offseason. With 41 home runs and 109 RBIs in his one season with the New York Yankees, the four-time All-Star finished third in the American League MVP vote last season.

The Mets’ final run, a home run from Soto, was more than sufficient to earn their first win of the year. New York won 3-1 on Friday to exact revenge for their setback to Houston on Opening Day.
