The Oklahoma City Thunder made significant strides during the 2023-24 NBA season. With a second consecutive year of impressive improvement, they secured 57 wins and became the youngest No. 1 seed in NBA history. Although their playoff journey ended in the second round against the eventual Western Conference Champion Dallas Mavericks, the Thunder showcased their potential.
Isaiah Joe Talks About Thunders Championship Hopes
“Next season we will be championship-built because we just had a whole team of inexperienced guys in the postseason. Now that we have the experience, you can’t really beat that,” Isaiah Joe told the Run It Back crew.
The Thunder’s postseason run featured a roster primarily composed of young and inexperienced players. Despite this, they managed to win their first playoff series since 2016. The exposure to high-pressure situations provided invaluable experience.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams emerged as rising stars. Their growth throughout the season bodes well for the team’s future.

The Thunder established themselves as the best 3-point shooting team in the league. Their proficiency from beyond the arc, combined with a top-five offense and defense, positions them as formidable contenders. Mark Daigneault’s coaching prowess played a crucial role in the Thunder’s success. His ability to develop young talent and adapt to game situations is a significant asset.
Isaiah Joe’s confidence in the Thunder’s future is well-founded. If they continue to build on their strengths, make necessary roster adjustments, and stay healthy, they could indeed become championship contenders in the 2024-25 season.
